The Hobart Civic Association hosted a “Meet the Candidate Night” at the Hobart Community Center on October 27, 2007 for the upcoming Stamford Town Board Elections. All of the candidates were on hand: Kelly Keck (D) for Town Supervisor, Barbara Doyle (D) for Town Board, Donna Houghton (B endorsed by D) for Town Board and Mike Triolo, BJ Spinney and Rudy Stripp (R ).
Though the intent was to be fair to all candidates, they must have missed their mark. It was clearly staged to favor the R’s. But that’s no big surprise.

Dear Stamford Democrat!
We take great pleasure and excitement in announcing that we have endorsed a highly qualified slate of candidates to represent your interests in our town. As our committee has grown, we have found that the issues and priorities of voters have not been consistently represented in town government, and we are eager for a change. To that end, the Stamford Democratic Committee (SDC) has endorsed the candidacy of Kelly Keck for Stamford Town Supervisor and Barbara Doyle and Donna Houghton for Stamford Town Board. These three candidates will strive for a more responsive and open town government for the betterment of all town tax-payers.

According to Congressman Hinchey’s website, he and Senator Feingold of Wisconsin “have introduced two censure resolutions in their respective chambers condemning the president, vice president and the attorney general for misconduct regarding our military involvement in Iraq and for their repeated assaults on the rule of law at home.” As has been reported by the Oneonta Daily Star, both the Delaware County Democratic Committee and the Otsego County Democratic Committee have passed resolutions either directly calling for impeachment or an impeachment investigation of both the President and the Vice-president.
The Otsego County Democratic Committee voted last week to urge two area members of Congress to support an impeachment study focused on President Bush and Vice President Cheney.

By a two-to-one margin in June, the Delaware County Democratic Committee passed a resolution that called for the initiation of impeachment proceedings.

Hello, fellow Democrats!
We successfully marched in the Flag Day Parade last week, very exciting and the first time Democrats have been seen in a long time!!
Our upcoming events include a bake sale/yard sale on Saturday the 15th of July (same day at the Utsayantha dedication). We will plan this further at our next meeting which will be July 10th at 7pm.
Also, the Horseshoe Festival is up and coming on July 22nd. I asked for an application, the cost is $20. We will be manning a table with information on candidates running for office, as well as information about how to get involved. I would like to go ahead and submit a check with the application as soon as I receive it in the mail. If anyone has a cabana to shade the sun/save us from the rain it would be appreciated!! Please think about volunteering that day for a few hours.
See you all on the 10th
Cindy
