YES, WE DID!!!

Announcements, County Committee, Delhi, Middletown, Sidney Comments Off

I am very proud to announce that the Delaware County Democratic Committee along with many wonderful volunteers, turned out over 120 students we registered from Suny Delhi to vote yesterday! This is out of 159 registered with the campus as their address. Amazing!! Thanks to all, and our work has only just begun.

Congresswoman Gillibrand, who lost by over 1200 votes in 2006, carried Delaware County by 1179 votes over Sandy Treadwell: 8226 to 7047 (unofficial of course)

Obama lost in the county, but not by much: 8562 to 9875. HE WON IN DELHI, MIDDLETOWN AND SIDNEY!!

Delhi: 868 Obama to 735 McCain (gee, do you think this has anything to do with all those college students!!??)

Middletown: 740 Obama to 645 McCain

Sidney: 1104 Obama to 984 McCain

Everyone I have spoken to says they wept for joy, and relief. It’s a good day.

Women For Obama Rally

County Committee Comments Off

A bipartisan group of women from all over the Capital Region will gather at the Capitol Steps in an effort to bring attention to issues of importance to us during this presidential campaign and show our support for Presidential cand idate Barack Obama.

We proudly support Senator Barack Obama as our next President because he is the best
candidate to bring about change to Washington and throughout the world. He will fight to
establish a healthcare system that is inclusive of all Americans; will continue to support Roe v. Wade ensuring the privacy and safety of all women; and will support an agenda that will
strengthen current domestic violence laws. In addition, Senator Obama strongly supports equal pay legislation and he is dedicated to helping the middle class get ahead by supporting tax-cuts that directly benefit them.

WOMEN WILL NOT BE FOOLED. SENATOR OBAMA IS THE ONLY CANDIDATE WHO WILL TRULY SUPPORT WOMENS ISSUES BUT FIRST WE MUST SHOW OUR SUPPORT FOR HIM!

JOIN US as we gather and discuss some of the issues of great importance to American women and show our support for the Obama-Biden ticket.

DCDC Coordinates Obama Volunteers

County Committee Comments Off

Monday, September 29 at 7 pm approximately 40 people attended the DCDC Obama meeting in Delhi to coordinate volunteer efforts. It was very exciting! Lawn signs were distributed and folks signed up for various activities. For those of you who couldn’t attend, but are interested in helping with the Obama campaign, here are the volunteer categories and contact people.
Most urgently needed are folks to go to Wilkes-Barre and Scranton to help with the Pennsylvania efforts.

Gillibrand Supporters Rally in New Kingston

County Committee Comments Off

More than 40 people joined Alan Dee and Frank Buffone at their New Kingston residence Saturday afternoon for a “Farm Country Rally for Gillibrand”. Representative Kirsten Gillibrand is running for reelection to New York’s 20th US congressional district.

“I’m encouraged to see the energy and support coming from our community — particularly from young people” said Delaware County Democratic Committee (DCDC) Secretary Lisa Tait. “The goal today was to raise funds, make connections and get volunteers lined up for phone banking and canvassing. With over $3,000 in donations and new names on the volunteer sheet, I’d say we had a successful day.”

Kirsten Gillibrand was unable to attend the event, but she addressed the group and fielded questions via telephone. Featured speakers included DCDC Chair Cindy Lockrow, Delaware County Volunteer Coordinator Matt Northrup and Field Organizer Sarah Gitlin. For more information, contact Delaware County Volunteer Coordinator, Matthew Northrup at 607-510-4085 (home), 607-237-4174 (cell) or via e-mail at mnorthrup@stny.rr.com.
