DELAWARE COUNTY DEMOCRATS WELCOME
NY20 CANDIDATE SCOTT MURPHY
DELHI – The Delaware County Democratic Committee will host Scott Murphy, Democratic candidate for the 20th Congressional District of New York, at a pair of events on February 25 in Delhi.
Murphy will attend the regularly scheduled Committee meeting to take place that evening at 7 p.m. in SUNY Delhi’s Sanford Hall, Room 22. Murphy will discuss his candidacy and his take on the issues, and will answer questions from Committee members, members of the public and the media.
Earlier in the day, Murphy will formally open his Delaware County campaign office at 98 Main Street (Schimmerling Law Offices) with a ribbon cutting ceremony and Meet & Greet event. The time for the ribbon cutting has yet to be determined but will be announced on this web site.
Scott Murphy is a Glen Falls business man who, as a managing director of venture firm Advantage Capital, made investments in promising companies in connection with federal, state and local economic development initiatives. Murphy says he is running for Congress to capitalize on his business experience to create and save jobs in upstate New York. As a successful entrepreneur, Murphy has helped to create over 1,000 jobs in New York State.
Murphy is running to fill the seat vacated by Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand, who was appointed by Governor David Paterson to the Senate to fill the vacancy created by the departure of Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. The special election is expected to be scheduled for March 31.

Monday, September 29 at 7 pm approximately 40 people attended the DCDC Obama meeting in Delhi to coordinate volunteer efforts. It was very exciting! Lawn signs were distributed and folks signed up for various activities. For those of you who couldn’t attend, but are interested in helping with the Obama campaign, here are the volunteer categories and contact people.
Most urgently needed are folks to go to Wilkes-Barre and Scranton to help with the Pennsylvania efforts.
Thanks for all you do — Lisa:

More than 40 people joined Alan Dee and Frank Buffone at their New Kingston residence Saturday afternoon for a “Farm Country Rally for Gillibrand”. Representative Kirsten Gillibrand is running for reelection to New York’s 20th US congressional district.
“I’m encouraged to see the energy and support coming from our community — particularly from young people” said Delaware County Democratic Committee (DCDC) Secretary Lisa Tait. “The goal today was to raise funds, make connections and get volunteers lined up for phone banking and canvassing. With over $3,000 in donations and new names on the volunteer sheet, I’d say we had a successful day.”
Kirsten Gillibrand was unable to attend the event, but she addressed the group and fielded questions via telephone. Featured speakers included DCDC Chair Cindy Lockrow, Delaware County Volunteer Coordinator Matt Northrup and Field Organizer Sarah Gitlin. For more information, contact Delaware County Volunteer Coordinator, Matthew Northrup at 607-510-4085 (home), 607-237-4174 (cell) or via e-mail at mnorthrup@stny.rr.com.
