Coalition swept in Meredith

We appreciate the generous coverage of our election victory in the town of Meredith but want to clear up a misunderstanding. The unprecedented sweep of all seven contested races was achieved not by an independent party but by a coalition. This coalition consisted of the Democratic Party, Conservative Party and Meredith Unity Party.

The slate of seven was selected and endorsed in June at a meeting open to all registered Democrats in Meredith. The Conservatives chose to endorse the three Democratic candidates for supervisor and town council. Then Democrats and some Republicans helped form an independent group, Meredith Unity, to attract support from a broad range of voters.

So credit for the victory (by a margin of nearly two-to-one in the supervisor’s contest) belongs to a coalition of people in Meredith.
