On the ground

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. with First Vice Chair Rosemarie Bryden presiding.

The first order of business was committee reorganization. A special voting committee consisting of B. Stinson, E. Olmesdahl, and J. Townsend explained the rules for casting ballots and conducted the election. The number of eligible voters was 79; 48 members were present and 30 proxies were submitted. Voting for the chair was by secret ballot with the exception of designated proxies. Nominations for Chair were made for Cindy Lockrow (R. Schebesta/L. Sienko) and Bill Buccheri (Barbara Buccheri/E. Olmesdahl). Both nominees were accepted. At 7:15 a motion was made and approved that the polls be closed (R. Schebesta/B. Bucchieri).

While the ballots were being counted, Eileen Olmesdahl reported the results of the judicial convention. The ballot will show the following names as Democratic candidates for the NYS Sixth District Supreme Court Justice; Molly Fitzgerald, Richard Rich and Donald Cerio.

A total of 78 votes were cast: Cindy Lockrow – 44 / Bill Bucchieri – 34

The secretary was directed to cast one ballot for each of the following who were nominated and unopposed:

First Vice Chair – Dawn Rivers Baker (J Strassenburg/R. Mulliken)
Second Vice Chair – Tom Schimmerling (K. Keck/E. S)
Secretary – Lisa Tait (B. DeSilva/R. Stinson)
Treasurer – Andrea Paternoster (D. Valente/T. Schimmerling)

Cindy gave a brief address regarding expectations and goals going forward. She asked that Town committees send in their town reorganization letters.

NEW BUSINESS

New Member Appointments: the following names were submitted and approved;
Connie Spielman, Middletown District 5 (R. Schebesta/K. Keck)
Heather Newton, Davenport District 1 (D. Stinson/D. Rivers Baker)
Richard Durmond, Jr., Walton District 4 (S. Hodge/K. Keck)

Change in Officers: Fred Cubero will be stepping down as Andes chairman. Suzanne Gladstone will replace him.

A motion was made and approved to table the August minutes until the next meeting.
