Delaware Dems calls org meeting in Deposit
County Committee, Deposit October 10th. 2007, 10:44amMy Fellow Democrat!
I am writing to invite you and your Democratic neighbors to an organizational meeting sponsored by the Delaware County Democratic Committee (DCDC). The meeting will be held on Monday, October 22, 2007 at 7 pm at the Deposit Village Hall. The village hall is located at 146 Front Street. The purpose of the meeting is to bring Deposit Democrats of all stripes together and to provide a more unified Democratic presence within the Town of Deposit. We have called this meeting at the Deposit Village Hall, as the Deposit Town Hall on Elm Street was unavailable at this date and time.
Some of you may have already heard that the DCDC has new leadership dedicated to the strengthening of all our town committees. We have chosen to begin our outreach efforts with the Town of Deposit, as Deposit is the only remaining town within Delaware County without a single delegate to the DCDC. Deposit could have a total of four delegates to the DCDC, as it has two election districts. Delegates are two per district. We are hopeful that four registered Democrats from the Town of Deposit will volunteer their time and add Deposit’s voice to our county committee.
Since we have both state and federal elections coming up next year and state and local races this year, it is important for Delaware County Democrats to get more involved in our democratic process. Following on the success of Elizabeth Garry’s race last year for the Sixth Judicial New York State (NYS) Supreme Court district, three new Democratic candidates are running for NYS Supreme Court justice: Molly Fitzgerald of Broome County, Donald Cerio of Madison County, and Richard Rich of Chemung County. In addition, Deposit’s congressman, Representative Maurice Hinchey, will be running for re-election next year along with the Democratic presidential nominee.
We are excited about our current and upcoming races and look forward to working with you on your candidates and issues.
Sincerely,
Cynthia Lockrow
